Coolant temperature sending unit — general information Ford F150
1. The coolant temperature indicator system consists of a temperature gauge/ indicator mounted in the dash and a Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor or an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (2.7L models) (see Emissions and engine control systems).
Note: 2.7L engine models, use both a Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor and a Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
2. These sensors also serve as the sensor(s) for the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
3. If an overheating indication occurs, check the coolant level in the system. Make sure that the wiring between the gauge and the sensor(s) is secure and all fuses are intact.
