Interior cabin heater coolant pump — removal and installation Ford F150
Note: The cabin heater coolant pump is located directly above the thermostat housing. Only 2.7L and 3.5L turbocharged models are equipped with a cabin heater coolant pump.
Removal
Warning: Wait until the engine is completely cool before beginning this procedure.
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
2. Drain the cooling system (see Tune-up and routine maintenance).
3. Disconnect and remove the air filter housing outlet hose (see Fuel and exhaust systems).
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant pump.

5. Disconnect the hoses from the coolant pump (see illustration).
6. Remove the cabin heater coolant pump mounting bolts and remove the pump.
7. Install the cabin heater coolant pump bolts by hand, then tighten the bolts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
8. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
9. Refill the cooling system (see Tune-up and routine maintenance).
10. Start the engine and make sure there are no leaks. Check the level frequently during the first few weeks of operation to ensure there are no leaks and that the coolant level is stable.
