Air conditioning condenser — removal and installation Ford F150

Warning: The air conditioning system is under high pressure. DO NOT loosen any fittings or remove any components until after the system has been discharged. Air conditioning refrigerant should be properly discharged into an EPA-approved container at a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning repair facility. Always wear eye protection when disconnecting air conditioning system fittings. Warning: Wait until the engine is completely cool before beginning this procedure.

1. Have the air conditioning system discharged by a licensed air conditioning technician.

2. Remove the grille (see Body).

3. Remove the air filter housing and inlet and outlet ducts (see Fuel and exhaust systems).

9. Depress the condenser retaining tabs then lift the condenser up and out of the vehicle, taking care not to damage the fins on the radiator or condenser. If you’re going to reinstall the same condenser, store it with the line fittings facing up to prevent oil from draining out.

10. If you’re going to install a new condenser, pour one ounce of refrigerant oil of the correct type into it prior to installation.

11. Before reconnecting the refrigerant lines to the condenser, be sure to coat a pair of new 0-rings with refrigerant oil, install them in the refrigerant line fittings and then tighten the condenser inlet and outlet nuts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
