Door(s) — removal, installation and adjustment Ford F150
Caution: The door is heavy and somewhat awkward to remove and install — at least two people should perform this procedure.
Front door
1. Pull or pry-out the grommet, then disconnect the electrical connector in the door opening.
2. Place a floor jack under the door or have an assistant on hand to support it when the hinge bolts are removed.
Note: If a jack is used, place a few rags between it and the door to protect the door’s painted surfaces.
3. Scribe around the hinges with a marking pen to aid in alignment when installing, then remove the fasteners and carefully lift off the door (see illustrations).
.3a Remove the fastener from the door stop strap…
.3b…then remove the door retaining bolt at each hinge (lower hinge shown)
4. Installation is the reverse of removal, making sure to align the hinges with the marks made during removal before tightening the bolts.
5. Following installation of the door, check the alignment and adjust the hinges, if necessary. Adjust the door lock striker, centering it in the door latch (see illustration).
.5 Adjust the door lock striker by loosening the mounting bolts and gently tapping the striker in the desired direction
Rear door (SuperCab and SuperCrew models)
Warning: On SuperCab models (without a door stop strap), the rear door must only be removed/installed with the door open at 90-degrees. If the door is replaced at its full open (170-degree) position, damage to the internal door hinge spring may occur.
6. Pry-off and remove the door hinge trim panel from the vehicle body, if equipped.
7. Working through the door opening, pull or pry the rubber electrical connector grommet out of the body. Pull wiring harness through the grommet hole and disconnect the electrical connector.
8. Remove the bolt securing the door stop strap, if equipped.
9. Mark around the door hinges with a pen or a scribe to facilitate realignment during installation.
10. Have an assistant help support the door while you remove the mounting bolts. On SuperCab models, remove the four mounting bolts along the inside of the door and carefully remove it with the door opened at 90-degrees only (see above Warning). On SuperCrew models, remove the hinge-to-door bolts and lift the door off.
11. Installation is the reverse of the removal.
12. Following installation of the door, check the alignment and adjust the hinges, if necessary. Adjust the door lock striker, centering it in the door latch (see illustration .5).
