Seats — removal and installation Ford F150

Warning: Some models are equipped with seat belt pre-tensioners, which are pyrotechnic (explosive) devices that tighten the seat belts during an impact of sufficient force. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any restraint system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag(s) and seat belt pre-tensioners, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).

Front seat

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

2. Working underneath the front section of the seat, locate and disconnect the electrical connector(s) (see illustrations).

Note: Position the seat all the way forward and all the way to the rear (as necessary) to access the front and rear seat retaining bolts. On models with automatic seat position adjustment, the electrical connector(s) can be disconnected after the seat retaining bolts have been removed.

3. Detach any bolt trim covers and remove the retaining bolts (see illustrations).

4. Lift the seat out of the vehicle. This step may be easier with the help of an assistant.

5. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Center front seat

6. Remove the passenger’s side seat (see Steps 1 through 4).

7. Position the driver’s seat all the way forward and all the way to the rear to allow access to the center seat left side retaining bolts.

8. Depress the locking tab (see illustra tion) and disconnect the center seat belt from the seat belt anchor, if equipped.

9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the right side of the seat, if equipped.

10. Remove the mounting bolts from the right side of the seat (see illustration).

11. Remove the mounting bolts from the left side of the seat (see illustrations).

12. Lift the seat out of the vehicle.

13. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Rear seats

SuperCab models

Right side seat

14. Pull the cushion release handle and slightly raise the seat cushion.

15. Remove the front bolts, then lower the seat cushion.

16. Pull the seat back release strap and fold the seat back downward.

17. Remove the outer safety belt lower anchor-to-seat bolt.

18. Remove the seat rear mounting nuts and remove the right side seat.

19. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Left side seat

20. Remove the right side seat first (see Steps 14 through 18).

21. Pull the cushion release handle and slightly raise the seat cushion.

22. Remove the front bolts, then lower the seat cushion.

23. Remove the safety belt lower anchor-toseat bolt.

24. Pull the seat back latch handle on the backside of the seat and fold the seat back downward.

25. On models equipped with a subwoofer, remove the subwoofer (see Chassis electrical system).

26. Disconnect the rear seat heater electrical connector, if equipped.

27. Remove the seat rear mounting nuts and with the help of an assistant, remove the left side rear seat.

28. Installation is the reverse of removal.

SuperCrew models

Right side seat

29. Pull the cushion release handle and slightly raise the seat cushion.

30. Remove the front bolts, then lower the seat cushion.

31. Pull the seat back release strap and fold the seat back down.

32. Release the hook-and-loop strap holding the spare tire jack to the seat and remove the jack.

33. On models equipped with inflatable (SRS) safety belts, first disable the SRS system (see Chassis electrical system), then remove the safety belt lower anchor bolt cover and remove the bolt.

34. On models without inflatable safety (SRS) belts, remove the safety belt lower anchor-to-seat bolt (there should be no cover over the bolt).

35. Disconnect the rear seat heater electrical connector and also the inflatable belt connector, if equipped.

36. Remove the seat rear mounting nuts and remove the right side seat.

37. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Left side seat

38. Remove the right side seat first (see Steps 29 through 36).

39. Pull the cushion release handle and slightly raise the seat cushion.

40. Remove the front bolts, then lower the seat cushion.

41. On models equipped with inflatable (SRS) safety belts, first disable the SRS system (see Chassis electrical system), then remove the safety belt lower anchor bolt cover and remove the bolt.

42. On models without inflatable safety (SRS) belts, remove the safety belt lower anchor-to-seat bolt (there should be no cover over the bolt).

43. Raise the seat cushion slightly then release the seat back latch on the backside of the seat and fold the seat back down.

44. On models equipped with a subwoofer, remove the subwoofer (see Chassis electrical system).

45. Disconnect the rear seat heater electrical connector, if equipped.
