Brake vacuum pump (2.7L V6 models) — removal and installation Ford F150
Note: The vacuum pump is mounted to the rear of the left cylinder head.
1. Remove the engine cover (see V6 engines).
2. Detach the two vacuum hose quick-connect fittings from the pump (see illustration).

3. Loosen the left-front wheel lug nuts.
Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the wheel.
4. Remove the inner fender splash shield (see Body).
5. Pry off the wiring harness retainer from the back of the pump (see illustration).

6. Working through the fenderwell, remove the three vacuum pump mounting bolts and detach the pump from the rear of the cylinder head.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of all sealant.
8. Install new 0-ring gaskets to the pump.
9. Apply a 1/8-inch bead of RTV sealant to the parting lines of the cylinder head and pump adapter.
10. Install the pump and mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
Caution: The pump must be installed within ten minutes of sealant application.
11. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
12. Install the wheel and lug nuts, then lower the vehicle. Tighten the lug nuts to the torque listed in the Tune-up and routine maintenance Specifications.
