Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) — Front Controls Interface Display Module (FCDIM), Audio Control Module (ACM) — removal and installation Ford F150
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disconnect the negative battery cable(s) and wait two minutes before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Airbag system – general information) .
1. The FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) is the central hub of driver information, interior car comfort, entertainment, and navigation. The FCIM is the interface, the FCDIM is the display, and the ACM is the radio interface module. The duties and functions of the FCIM, FCDIM, and the ACM are listed below.
2. Use a scanner to upload the FCIM configuration data and store that information in the scanner.
3. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

4. Using a trim tool, pry out the instrument panel center speaker grille, if equipped.
5. Remove the rubber mat from the bottom of the tray.
6. Remove the instrument panel storage tray fasteners and tray (see Body).
7. Remove the FCIM mounting bolts (see illustrations) and pry the interface module forward. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the FCIM from the instrument panel.

8. Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the (FCIM) from the instrument panel and remove the (FCIM) module from the panel (see illustration).

Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM)
9. Remove the FCIM (see Steps 4 through 8), then remove the (FCDIM) fasteners (see illustration).

10. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the (FCDIM) from the instrument panel (see illustration).

11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Use the scanner to download the configuration data back into the FCIM. Tighten all fasteners to the torque settings listed in Section
12. Verify that all controls operate correctly.
Radio — Audio Control Module (ACM)
Warning: If you are replacing the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) with a new one, upload the ACM configuration into a scan tool so that it can be reloaded into the replacement unit. This will have to be done by an appropriately equipped repair facility.
Note: If equipped with the base AM/FM radio, it does not need to be programmed.
13. Remove the FCIM (see Steps 4 through 8).
14. Remove the fasteners securing the radio to the dash (see illustration).

15. Pull the unit out far enough to disconnect the electrical connections and antenna lead (see illustration).

16. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Speakers
Door speakers
17. Remove the door trim panel (see Body).
18. Remove the mounting fasteners (see illustration), withdraw the speaker, unplug the electrical connector and remove the speaker from the vehicle.

19. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Instrument panel center speaker
20. Using a trim tool, pry out the instrument panel center speaker grille.
21. Remove the mounting fasteners, withdraw the speaker, unplug the electrical connector and remove the speaker from the vehicle.
22. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Tweeter speaker
23. Remove the A-pillar trim panel (see Body).
24. Disconnect the electrical connector to the tweeter (see illustration).

25. Remove the mounting screws and tweeter from the trim panel.
Subwoofer speaker
26. Fold down the rear seat.
27. Disconnect the electrical connector to the subwoofer.
28. Remove the mounting bolts and sub-woofer from the cab.
