Instrument cluster — removal and installation Ford F150
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disconnect the negative battery cable(s) and wait two minutes before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Airbag system – general information) .
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
Note: If you are replacing the instrument cluster, the information stored in the old instrument cluster must be uploaded to a scanner to be reinstalled in the replacement cluster. Consult a dealer service department or other properly equipped repair facility before proceeding.
2. Remove the knee bolster panel (see Body).
3. Lower the steering column to the lowest position and pull out the knee bolster trim panel to release the retaining clips.
4. Remove the instrument cluster bezel (see Body).
5. Remove the four screws securing the instrument cluster to the dash assembly (see illustration).

6. Pull the instrument cluster out and unplug the electrical connector from the backside (see illustration), then remove the cluster from the instrument panel.

7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
