Steering column switches — replacement Ford F150
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disconnect the negative battery cable(s) and wait two minutes before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Airbag system – general information) .
Multi-function switch
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
2. Remove the steering column covers (see Body).
3. Remove the steering column control switch (see Steps 11 through 14), if equipped.
4. Remove the Torx screws for the multifunction switch. Pull the multi-function switch off of the steering column (see illustration).

5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Adjustable pedal switch
6. Remove the knee bolster (see Body).
7. Carefully lift the hooked clips that secure the adjustable pedal switch to the knee bolster. Remove it by pulling it away from the steering column.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Cruise control switch
9. The cruise control switch is mounted on the steering wheel. To remove the switch, use a flat-bladed trim tool and pry the switch out of the steering wheel starting on the outside edge. Once the switch is free disconnect the electrical connectors but don’t let the wires fall back into the wheel.
10. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Steering column control switch
11. Remove the steering column covers (see Body).
12. Rotate the steering wheel 90-degrees counterclockwise.
13. Remove the switch mounting screws.
14. Depress the two retaining tabs and remove the switch from the column.
15. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Steering Column Control Module (SCCM)
16. The SCCM collects the input signals from all of the various steering column switches and routes the data signals to the appropriate next module(s). The adjustable pedals also run through the SCCM. The SCCM is located under the steering column covers (see illustration).

17. To replace the SCCM requires downloading the information from the original SCCM and then reinstalling that information into the replacement SCCM. This requires the use of the proper scanner and diagnostic tools. See your local dealer or qualified independent repair facility for any repair or diagnostics regarding the SCCM operation.
Heated steering wheel module — removal and installation
Caution: The HSWM (Heated Steering Wheel Module) is mounted behind the driver’s knee bolster trim panel. Replacing the HSWM requires programming of the replacement module. This task cannot be carried out without the proper scanning and diagnostic tools. See your local dealer or qualified independent repair facility for proper configuration.
18. Remove the driver’s side knee bolster trim panel (see Body).
19. Disconnect the electrical connector from the HSWM and remove the fasteners.
20. Installation is the same as removal. Have the HSWM reconfigured by a qualified repair facility.
Steering wheel multi-function switch
21. Remove the driver’s airbag module (see Suspension and steering systems).
22. Use a trim tool to carefully pry the steering wheel trim bezel off of the steering wheel (see illustration).

23. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the switches (see illustration).

24. Remove the steering wheel switch(es) fasteners and remove the switch(es) from the bezel.
25. Installation is the reverse of removal.
