Battery and battery tray — removal and installation Ford F150
Note: Battery straps and handlersare available at most auto parts stores for reasonable prices. They make it easier to remove and carry the battery.
Removal Battery

1 Negative cable clamp
2 Positive cable clamp
3 Battery hold-down clamp
4 Battery cover
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery
2. Disconnect the cable from the positive terminal of the battery for the battery being removed.
3. Remove the battery hold-down bracket.
4. Lift out the battery. Be careful — it’s heavy.
If equipped, remove the battery cover from the battery.

5. Remove the battery.

2. Mounting bolts
6. Release the wiring harness from the retainers on the side of the battery tray, then remove the four bolts attaching the battery tray to the vehicle
7. Remove the battery tray from the vehicle.
Installation
8. If you are replacing the battery, make sure you get one that’s identical, with the same dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, etc.
9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Connect the cable to the positive battery terminal first, then connect the ground cable to the negative battery terminal.
