Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor/Fuel Rail Pressure and Temperature (FRPT) sensor — replacement Ford F150
Caution: If the FRP or FRPT sensor is removed, it cannot be reused and must be replaced with a new one.
1. Relieve the fuel pressure (see Fuel pressure relief procedure). Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (see Battery – disconnection and reconnection).
Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor
Location of the fuel rail pressure sensor (2.7L models)
2. On 2.7L models, the fuel rail pressure sensor is located on the front of the driver’s (left) Direct Injection fuel rail. Remove the driver’s (left) fuel rail (see Fuel rails and injectors – removal and installation).
3. On 3.5L turbocharged models, the fuel rail pressure sensor is located on the rear of the passenger’s side (right) Direct Injection fuel rail. Remove the intake manifold to access the sensor (see Intake manifold(s) – removal and installation).
4. On 3.3L Duratec and 2018 and later 5.0L engines, the FRP sensor is located on the rear of the driver’s side (left) Direct Injection fuel rail. If you’re working on a 3.3L model, remove the lower intake manifold (see Intake manifold(s) – removal and installation). If you’re working on a 5.0L model, remove the intake manifold (see Intake manifold – removal and installation).
5. Unscrew the sensor from the fuel rail and install the new one, tightening it to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
Note: Coat the threads of the sensor with clean engine oil prior to installation.
6. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
Fuel Rail Pressure and Temperature (FRPT) sensor
7. On 2018 and later 2.7L and 3.5L models, the FRPT sensor is located at the front of the driver’s side (left) port fuel injection fuel rail. Remove the intake manifold to access the sensor (see Intake manifold(s) – removal and installation).
8. On 3.3L engines, the FRPT sensor is located at the front of the port fuel injection fuel rail. Remove the air intake duct for access.
9. On 2018 and later 5.0L engines, the FRPT sensor is located on the driver’s side (left) port injection fuel rail. Remove the engine cover and fuel rail insulator for access.
10. Unscrew the sensor from the fuel rail and install the new one, tightening it to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
Note: Coat the threads of the sensor with clean engine oil prior to installation.
11. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
