Throttle body — removal and installation Ford F150
Note: All models are «drive-by-wire» and do not have an accelerator cable. The APP sensor communicates the desired pedal position to the PCM, the PCM then actuates the throttle body to the desired throttle angle.
Removal
1. Remove the engine cover if equipped.
2. On turbocharged models, disconnect the charge air cooler outlet pipe from the throttle body.
3. On non-turbocharged models, remove the air intake tube (see Air filter housing – removal and installation).
4. On 3.5L non-turbo models, remove the hose retainer.
Disconnect the electrical connector (1) then remove the bolts (2) (2.7L model shown)
5. On all models, unlock the locking tab and disconnect the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) electrical connector from the throttle body
6. Remove the four throttle body mounting bolts and remove the throttle body.
Remove and discard the 0-ring (2.7L model shown with intake manifold removed)
7. Discard the 0-ring gasket.
8. Clean the sealing surfaces. If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage the sealing surfaces or allow material to drop into the intake manifold. Install a new 0-ring gasket.
Installation
9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the throttle body mounting nuts to the torque listed in this Chapter’s Specifications.
