Dashboard trim panels — removal and installation Ford F150
Warning: The models covered in this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as air bags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbags, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Battery and battery tray – removal and installation).
2. If equipped, remove the center console where necessary (see Center console – removal and installation).
Knee bolster
3. Use a dull, flat-bladed tool around the top of the knee bolster to release the clips, then lower the panel, disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the panel fasteners (see illustrations).

.3b Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) and release the harness clips (2) from the panel
.3c Remove the bolts and knee bolster panel
4. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Instrument cluster finish panel
5. Remove the knee bolster (see Step 5).
6. Remove the panel mounting screws (see illustration).

7. Carefully pry the finish panel out and remove it (see illustration).
.7 Using a trim tool, pry the trim panel out from the instrument panel
8. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Right side (glovebox) lower panel
9. Remove the plastic push pins the (see illustration), then remove the right side lower panel.

10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the module, if equipped (see illustration).

11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Glove box
12. Remove the glove box hinge pins (see illustrations).
.12a Use a pair of pliers and compress the locking tabs…
.12b…then pull the hinge pins out — right side shown, left side identical
13. Open the glove box door and remove the glove compartment dampener by pushing the end of the damper down and forward (see illustration).

14. Push the sides of the glove box inwards until the stops (see illustration) are released.

15. Lower the glove box and remove it from the hinges (see illustration).

16. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Glove box
storage compartment
17. Open the glove box.
18. Use a trim stick (if necessary) to pry the storage compartment rubber trim panel off (see illustration).

19. Remove the two screws, pull the glove box storage compartment out (releasing it from the clips), then disconnect the electrical connector (see illustrations).
.19a Remove the storage compartment fasteners…
.19b…pull the storage compartment out of the instrument panel, releasing it from the retaining clips…
.19c…then disconnect the electrical connector.
20. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Upper dashboard storage compartment
21. Remove the mat from the upper storage compartment (see illustration).

23. Use a plastic trim tool to pry the storage compartment out of the instrument panel (see illustration).
